Anchoring Scripture
“For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.” — 2 Corinthians 1:20
Devotional
You spend your days studying the intricate details of life; cells, DNA, and the precision of biological systems. Yet, when you look at your own future, it feels like a slide that won’t come into focus. You’re working hard, but that “I don’t know” about your career can feel like a heavy weight. In these moments, unbelief can easily creep in. It makes you wonder if God’s promises of guidance and provision are actually meant for you.
But hear this: God’s promises of wisdom, guidance, and provision are not just “nice literature” for a funeral. They are “Yes” and “Amen” for your undergrad journey. Unbelief is often the only thing that can stop God’s plan from unfolding in our lives. Like the Israelites, their own doubt stopped them from entering the Promised Land. Similarly, we are held back by the “bad reports” we tell ourselves. We also hear these from others.
To overcome this, you must treat your faith like your studies; it requires daily “lab work.”
- Identify the Wrong Voices: Are you listening to skepticism or the pressure to have it all figured out by nineteen? Those voices undermine your faith.
- Feed Your Faith Daily: Faith comes by hearing the Word. Don’t just read a verse once; meditate on it. Mentally digest it until it becomes as real to you as the laws of science.
- Acknowledge Your Need: It’s okay to say, “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief”. That is a sincere prayer that invites God to move in your uncertainty.
God is not a man that He should lie. If He promised to lead you, He will. Your job is not to have the career map finalized today. Instead, believe that the One who created every cell in your body is capable of directing your next step.
Prayer
Father, I thank You that Your promises are available to me through Jesus. Lord, I admit that I’m worried about my future, and I don’t know which way to go. I ask for your promised wisdom and guidance. Help my unbelief as I navigate this major and these big decisions. I choose to stand on Your Word today and believe that You are working all things for my good. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
